Lisa Owen is a member of the Flandreau Santee Dakota Tribe and traces her family’s origins back to Minneapolis, to Cloud Man’s Village on the shores of Bde Maka Ska. She earned an Associate of Science degree in Community Development from Minneapolis Community and Technical College; a Bachelor’s degree in Individualized Studies/Management from Metropolitan State University, and had an internship with the American Indian Community Development Corporation in Minneapolis. In 2014 with another Native Woman, she started Adobe DeSigns LLC, the first Native American owned, union Signage Company in the area, having the role of Controller handing all aspects of finance and business management. After 6 years she transitioned to KMS Air Duct Cleaning, a DBE business starting in bookkeeping and transitioning to Project Management. She has previously served on the Board of the Minneapolis American Indian Parent Committee.
