Zayed Ahmed Lamu, PhD, LPCC, LICSW

Zayed embodies the values of connectivity of our liberation journeys. She leads and lives with the question: how do we move liberation in ways that are mutually beneficial?

Zayed is a seasoned liberation psychologist who has spent many years counseling young people and adults, particularly focused on people of the African Diaspora. Thirteen years ago, she made the switch from counseling as her career path to administrative leadership in organisation’s that lead through social justice paradigms.  She worked for Avenues for Youth as an executive for many years, and is now at Lutheran Social Services as the Senior Director of Housing Services.

In her leadership she challenges the top-down leadership model and looks for ways to lead synergistically. As a board member of Rainbow Research, Zayed’s intention is to attend to how we practice depth psychology in our day-to-day work – how does every thought, feeling, behavior, and ways of engaging in the world around us move the better future we hope for into clearer view.

Zayed received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology from the Sofia University in Palo Alto, CA. She holds the licensures of Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She is a mother and a committed engaged member of her many communities: Africana Peoples, environmental justice communities, healers, synergizers.
